On Saturday, November 17, 2012 the 1st Light Up the Boulevard Electric Parade and Festival for the Grand Island community was conceived by Francine McMahon, a Director of the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce. Grand Island Parks & Recreation Department, Grand Island Town Board and many others worked together with the Chamber to make this special night happen. The parade route started at Island Lanes parking lot and ended in the Town Hall parking lot where a Holiday Festival began. Santa started the festivities with the official tree lighting ceremony and then visited with many children.
