Grand Island KidBiz 2012

KidBiz was developed by the Small Business Development Center at Buffalo State College and designed to give children in the second through eighth grade the experience and excitement of running their own small business.

KidBiz made its debut on Grand Island on 1997 as part of the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce “Plaza Happenings” and has evolved into today’s “KidBiz Young Entrepreneur Program .” This years event was held on the grounds of Town Hall and had over 120 budding entrepreneurs setting up booths to sell and market their own products.

The program starts each year with Committee Chairman, Jim Sharpe, holding an assembly for each of the local elementary schools where he presents the information to the kids. He then follows up with teaching a “training session” for the kids and their parents who would like to participate.

There are many kids who return year after year to try out their business ideas, but we are always amazed at how many new KidBiz participants turn out each year. This is always a fun event , rain or shine!
